INED Essentials Training M1: “Governance Essentials for INED"

The first module of INED Essentials Training was successfully held on 3 Mar 2020.

As the chairman of the Training & Accreditation Committee, Dr. Lawrence Wong helped in the design of the Training Program. At first, Dr. Lawrence Wong explained the overall design of the training program and then introduced the speaker, Dr. Davy Wu.

Dr. Wu. has shared unique insights about what corporate governance essentials that INED should concern, including:

• The job of INEDs in Hong Kong is challenge due to growing corporate complexity, board diversity, difficulty in risk management and so on

• Basically, INEDs should satisfied the required levels of skills, care and diligence. Their responsibilities are changing with the issuer’s affairs

• Recommendation of best practice as laid down by corporate governance code

Through this module, learning partners can learn what are INEDs responsibilities and challenges of INED in global trend, what kind of information can help INED govern the company and put this knowledge into practice. Dr. Wu also provides some advices to help learning partners understand the duties and requirements of INED and be well-equipped for the job.

The program leader Dr. Lawrence Wong also shares his opinions which help learning partners better understand the corporate governance for INEDs.
